Because of You
The First Door That Opened
I often talk about the MEP Learnings Community.
I talk about the workshops we organize, the engineers we bring together, the forums we run, and the small steps we are taking to support others.
But before all of this, there was one simple moment.
A moment when I was just a young engineer who had recently landed in Dubai.
I had no Gulf experience.
I had no strong network.
I had only a few printed CVs in my hand and a small hope in my heart that someone would believe in me.
Most companies did not respond.
Some people did not even give me a chance to speak.
And honestly, at that time, I did not know where my journey would go.
But one person opened the first door for me.
Sir, you looked beyond my lack of local experience.
You did not only see what was missing in my CV.
You saw what I could become.
You gave me my first opportunity to work in Dubai, and that one decision changed the direction of my life.
Under your leadership, I began to understand what this industry expects.
I learned how projects work.
I learned how to take responsibility.
I learned how to handle pressure, communicate more effectively, and gradually grow as an engineer.
I was not perfect.
I was still learning.
I was still trying to understand a new country, a new market, and a new professional life.
But because you trusted me, I started trusting myself a little more.
Looking back today, I truly feel that if you had not given me that first chance, my life might have gone in a very different direction.
The community I am building today, the engineers I am able to support, the confidence I have gained, and the journey I continue to walk, all of it has a small beginning in that one opportunity you gave me.
Sometimes, one act of kindness may look small to the person giving it.
But for the person receiving it, it can become the foundation of an entire life.
Sir, I cannot thank you enough.
Your trust shaped my journey.
Your kindness gave me direction.
Your leadership showed me that real leaders do not only look at experience.
They also look at potential.
May you always be blessed with good health, peace, happiness, and continued success.
With deep gratitude,
Sameer
